Erdős Intellectual Property Law + Startup Legal is a Winston-Salem story. Winston-Salem, a city in Western North Carolina, has a fascinating history and a promising future as The City of Arts and Innovation. When we settled our lives in Winston-Salem, we took in the charm while also rolling up our sleeves. We started the Firm in the Innovation Quarter and then branched out into the Arts District. While this city is world class in it arts, design, biomedical, agricultural, nanotechnology sciences, its entrepreneurs and startups needed a law firm that was holistic and approachable in its advisory.
We hope to never be a high-volume or large law Firm. You read that right. We do not focus narrowly on intellectual property/patent services; we also keep in mind that the big picture is the client's business and its long-term strategies for growth and prosperity. We know that if a law firm or an attorney primarily focuses getting as much volume as possible, it is a disservice to their clients and community. When we talk to potential clients, we do a robust assessment about what best serves their needs and goals. Sometimes, there are free resources that are a better fit for them, like the Forsyth Tech Small Business Center Counselors or the Wake Forest Community Law and Business Clinic.
Sometimes, there are online services that might be a better fit for business goals that do not require the careful, highly involved counseling from an attorney. We happily point potential clients in those directions if it makes the most sense for their business goals. We were the first law firm to make it a point to offer free legal counseling on a weekly basis at the Forsyth Tech Small Business Center and or at Venture Cafe so that we are helping our neighbors who cannot afford market-rate legal services. We want Winston-Salem and this region of North Carolina to succeed--that means doing what's best for its businesses and inventors. An attorney is a significant investment for any business; the selection of a firm must be done carefully and with candor from prospective attorneys. It's the way we create a vibrant and robust economy in Winston-Salem and greater Piedmont Triad.
